The Most Mesmerizing Photos Taken At Woodstock – Not Suitable For History Books!

Generational Creatives Woodstock festival in the summer of 1969 was among the most significant musical events to ever happen, and memories from that period will remain forever etched in our memories. The occasion didn’t just bring people from all walks of life together; it brought about a whole new crop of musicians and changed the course of music and art in general. After the massive event, more people appreciated pop culture, and the impact on the fashion industry continues to date. Many iconic moments went down during that weekend, and anyone who attended Woodstock left there creatively stimulated.

Where There’s Music, We Party!

While Woodstock publicized itself as an event where one would enjoy some great music with fellow peers, anyone who attended the show knew better; it was full of immense partying. When you have a lineup of over thirty performers and close to half a million people in attendance, we doubt there would be a shortage of fun. If this image is anything to go by, the event was full of people enjoying themselves and all for a good cause, sharing peace and love through music. We don’t think any festival has come close to achieving what Woodstock did.

There Was An Attendance Overflow

When the Woodstock organizers were planning for the event, we don’t think they expected many people to show up; shock on them! Close to half a million people attended the festival, causing a massive logistical nightmare, with the traffic extending over 20 miles! The figure was more than what the planners anticipated, and the crowd shocked the residents of the small town who were entirely new to seeing such huge events held in their neighborhood. In the end, the festival was a success, and love, peace, and unity triumphed once more.

World Stars Were Present

Woodstock festival was a huge success for several reasons, chief among them, the lineup of artists who performed. It was a star-studded event, with Ravi Shankar, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, and his band Gypsy Sun and Rainbows and Joan Baez among the musicians who headlined the show. With the organizers saving the best for last, Jimi was chosen to close the show. He didn’t disappoint, delivering one of the most electric performances in rock history with his prowess on the guitar wowing the masses. For his iconic show, he earned $18,000 from the event, making him the highest-paid artist at the festival.

More Than Half the Attendees Missed Hendrix’s Masterpiece

While Jimi Hendrix delivered what was probably his longest, most iconic show in history, many people missed the performance because they left due to the rains. Jimi was to close the festival, but a heavy downpour messed those plans, so he chose to perform on Monday morning, by which time only 180,000 people were left. Despite the dwindled audience, Hendrix gave his best, and the rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner had every reveler humming along to the tune. We kind of feel sorry for all the people who missed the two-hour piece of musical genius that the star delivered, but the ones who were there, will forever remember it.
